The Comme Des Garcons Fall 2014 Collection features knitwear in a particularly bright moment, because most collections seen so far have featured knits in one form or another. This designer however, has tackled with immense amounts of imagination and fantasy. With Rei Kawakubo as creative director, the scintillating experience unravels in a mastery series.
Dense woolly knitwear is used as a focal point, while inner tubes resemble igloos in a tent-like abode. Printed Lycra legs and a flash of spangled sequin pants carry the show down the runway, while everything is brilliantly illuminated with an intricate light show.
Kawakubo employed stuffed knee socks to create twisted structures around the body, sometimes so intricate as to suggest floating rafts.
