Most assuredly, when Gary Fernández, co-founder of VelvetBanana T-Shirts(R), releases his book, Introduction to Fantastic Girls, Future Landscapes, & The Most Beautiful Birds Ever Seen, it will adorn coffee tables and spark conversation amongst art fanciers everywhere. Using the colors of black, gray, white, blue, purple, and red, Fernández applies his artistic flare to these illustrious drawings which capture the embodiment of women, bedazzle the mind with futuristic landscapes, and bring out the nature lover when viewing the pulchritudinous birds. While browsing these spectacular drawings, I could almost conceptualize many of the pictures being used as launching pads of inspiration. Those who are innately creative could end up creating a stunning line of earrings and necklaces, as well as some trendy designer clothing fashions. Do you agree? If so, let me know. According to Gary’s site, there will be 500 limited editions printed on “Old Mill” paper. The name Gary Fernández has started to appear often enough to warrant a closer look. Fernández is a freelance illustrator and graphic artist based in Madrid, Spain, and currently living in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His client list is impressive, ranging from advertising heavies DDB, McCann Erickson, JWT and Grey to superbrands such as Coca Cola, Nokia and Camel. His illustrations have appeared in numerous magazines and books.
