As far as colorful chess sets, the one designed by XYZ Integrated Architecture is incredibly avant-garde. Taking on abstract cone shapes that range in size and color to determine what role it plays on the board, it doesn't incorporate a typical checkered pattern. This leads into the second part that makes the design stand out.

Set on a clear and hollow tray, the colorful chess sets can be placed on the floor, on the table or played vertically. Yet what this tray-designed chessboard entail is that any object can be placed inside to act as the 'checkered' pattern. Made out of acrylic fiber and wood, the colorful chess sets are works are art that could easily be displayed rather than played.
