UNOTES is a new venture launching a line of free college notebooks, suplemented by advertising.  The program is rolling out nationally in September.  For advertisers, the site describes, “UNOTES is a high quality notebook that would cost up to $6.99 in college bookstores.  It has a life cycle of at leaset 4 months and it makes multiple impressions every day.”  To students, UNOTES pitches its slogan, “Free is Good.”

Free is good. Marketers are banned from most opportunities in high schools, but college and university students appear to be free game. I'm actually surprised this hasn't happened sooner and I wonder when we'll see a sponsored TEXT book (ie. not just a notebook).

My professor last semester just proposed something like this as the future. I am certainly glad to hear somebody is finally doing something because for college students $500 for text books is a killer. Now those student loan companies can go screw themselves, just joking I don't need them anyway.
