How do you control or monitor your Christmas spending? Do you allocate a certain amount of money per family member? Do you create a budget for the whole family? Or do you just wander around the mall, picking up whatever you see fit?
The average family budget for Christmas has risen this year to $749.51 from $740.57 last year. However, this is still lower than 2007 (right before the recession) when the average family budget was $755.13. This figure will obviously change depending on the size of your family. If you have a large family of aunts, uncles and cousins, $749.51 may not go as far as it would for someone with a small immediate family.
In an interesting twist to the Christmas spending habits stats, early shoppers actually spend 14% more than the average shopper.
