Christie Brinkley, Daniel Radcliffe and Censor Bar Sunglasses[Edit]
A parent has the right to censor anything they choose from their children’s view; most recently, Christie Brinkley requested that a “20/20” interview be shielded from her two children. The interview, which is scheduled to air on Friday, features Peter Cook disclosing the sordid details that led to the breakup of his marriage to Christie Brinkley. Such high-profile censorship naturally makes waves in today’s tabloid culture. There have been other cases of censorship, however, that have not received the sort of attention that Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook are attracting. Take Daniel Radcliffe’s nude scene in ‘Equus’ on Broadway, for example, which inspired a creative architectural arrangement so that the stage-level seats blocked the audience’s view of the Harry Potter heartthrob’s wand. Other examples in this cluster exploit the nature of censorship to promote an idea. The Beate Uhse ads use a group of the traditional black censorship bars as an arrow to direct viewers to the store while covering the nude models’ cookies.
