‘Chhote Miyan’ is a comedy challenge show on Colors TV in India that provides a stage for budding comedy artists (6 to 14 years old) to prove their ability to do stand up acts. “Dying is easy, comedy is hard, is a popular notion in comedy circuits”, says writer Hal Croasmun. Indeed, with the alarming rate at which ‘attempts at comedy’ are churned out, acting out stale jokes coupled with horseplay and slapstick and packaging it as “comedy” on television is pretty common. I don’t intend to sound negative here, but we must agree that with a few exceptions (Jerry Seinfeld, Russel Peters) hilarious and side-splitting comedy is actually rare. So a fresh perspective at laughter from child stand up comedians is more than welcome now! Step aside ladies and gentlemen, tiny tots are here to tickle our ribs!
