Deathly afraid of anything arachnid-related, I think I may have started hyperventilating just looking at Chiharu Shiota’s art installations. In particular, her ‘In Silence’ piece, showcased at the ‘State of Being’ show in Switzerland and the cover image for this article, makes my skin crawl.

Born in Osaka, Japan, Chiharu Shiota has, according to DesignBoom.com, “gained international attention in recent years for body-related art.” Visit their site for more info and images.
