Design duo Chen Chen and Kai Williams is a Brooklyn-based experimental design group that plays with material to create functional art pieces like cement plant pots. Whether it's melding found objects and rocks into DIY Bookends or multi-colored carpets and coasters, its collection featured on Of a Kind presents a range of fruit-shaped cement planters.

Each pieces looks like a cross-section of something vaguely valuable because the material is industrial and mundane, but they way it's treated is remarkable. The design firm has managed to create delicate offerings of avocados, limes, oranges and pineapples all from cement.

You can use the bowls to house a small houseplant or to display your favorite fruit on the kitchen table. You can use the bowls for miscellaneous uses as well. Either way, the surfaces are textured and hand-treated to perfection.
