Lindsay Lohan’s dad joins Miley Cyrus’ dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, in the perils of celebrity fatherhood. While Miley’s dad supported her controversial publicity stunts, Lindsay Lohan’s dad is against his daughter’s decisions.

Michael Lohan has been trying to become a more involved and supportive father after years of estrangement, but his recent expression of displeasure with Lindsay’s choice to marry her girlfriend Samantha Ronson could cause another rift.

This is a big deal, trend wise, because the Lindsay Lohan wedding comes at a time when a celebrity wedding would actually be a very beneficial way to generate acceptance for gay weddings, but Michael’s response adds more difficulty to the situation instead.

“I think we can all see that her present so-called friends and management have her focused on the wrong projects and things,” Michael Lohan said. “If Lindsay would just listen to me and follow my guidance, like she did when her life was on the right path, and before the people you see now that are in her life, I guarantee that her life would straighten out and she’d be back to being the gifted actress everyone knew and loved.”

Ouch. The struggles of being a celebrity dad are huge and vary tremendously; fatherhood is tough in general, but when you have the public eye on you, it takes a whole new spin most parents will never be able to relate to. Lindsay Lohan’s dad has had to deal with his daughter’s tabloid rumours which included, among other things, drug abuse, anorexia and rehab. On the other hand, Michael was recently in rehab for drugs and alcohol himself.

Below are a few more dads who tried supporting their daughters’ controversial actions, all of which got roasted by the media as a result, with the exception of Francis Ford Coppola.
