Scientists at the University of Calgary have created a high definition 3-D virtual patient to assist doctors with medical visualization and diagnosis. ‘Caveman’ is a virtual-reality ‘holodeck’ of sorts that simulates the anatomy and physiology of the human body. 

Doctors and diagnosticians can do a virtual ‘walk-through’ of the body looking for clues to the processes underlying medical concerns. As the technology becomes widely available, body scans will be more affordable and less invasive than the techniques currently used.
