The first ever North American Cat Café, to be called Café Chat l'Heureux, is opening in Montreal. Would you like coffee or tea with a side of cat therapy? Well, cat lovers rejoice; the first North American Cat Café is set to open this summer in Montreal's Plateau. The cat café concept has been popular in Asia for years, and now the phenomenon has reached North America.

The owner, Clement Marty, was inspired by feline-focused joints while travelling to South Korea and Japan. The coffee shop will have all the usually perks of a restaurant, like coffee, pastries, tea, but with a feline-friendly design layout and kitties prowling around.

Café Chat l'Heureux is not just a fun place for cat ladies to meet, but a social initiative as well. Cafe Chat l'Heureux will adopt cats and promote animal issues in the process giving stray cats a home and improving the lives of customers through cat calming therapy.
