Extravagant and flamboyant hats, platform heels, black strong eyeliner, and vivacious red nails were trademarks of Carmen Miranda, the actress and singer from the 1940’s and 1950’s who popularized samba worldwide and was known as the Brazilian Bombshell.

T Magazine’s inspired editorial takes these signature details to a glamorized, soft pastel ambiance, reinterpreting Carmen Miranda’s style beautifully. This holiday spread is somewhat of an early celebration—if she were still alive, Carmen Miranda would celebrate her hundredth birthday this year.

The shoot was photographed by Camilla Akrans.
