The Cap Lamp by Mars Hwasung Yoo is a lighthearted statement that celebrates the freedom of form. For an object as straightforward to assembles as a light fixture, there is a great deal of room to get creative with shape.
All that a table lamp really needs is a lightbulb, a stand and a lampshade. Such criteria is simple meet, permitting a playful formal exploration similar to what this project has undergone. The component necessary for capping direct illumination has been sculpted to look like a baseball hat.
A twiggy black frame makes for an effective and slightly eccentric hinged stand, topped off by three prongs that structurally reference a coat rack. The Cap Lamp by Mars hence mimics a completely different household object, without detracting from its primary purpose.
