How is Motor Trend’s Car of the Year not trendy enough? This is the biggest award in the auto world and it's from Motor TREND magazine, they set the TRENDS. Motor Trend is one of the oldest car magazines and has been awarding Car of the Year since 1949.

The unveiling of a car isn't necessarily a trend. Nor is my post announcing the award of Car of the Year a duplicate of post of the unveiling, they are two different subjects. What turns a new car from just another new car to a new trend? The answer is being awarded the most prestigious award in the automotive industry.
