The reigning queen of burlesque, Dita Von Teese, has collaborated with Madonna’s favorite photographer, Steven Klein, on an intriguing photo shoot.

The theme of the shoot, which features model Caroline Winberg alongside Dita Von Teese, is a bit hard to decipher or pin-point. There is no direct interaction between Winberg and Dita, and there seems to be a bit of awkwardness in the air. Their eyes don’t even meet in the shots. It’s as if they are lovers who had a fight.

Technically, Klein is a master of using light and shade, and even though there is a sense of disconnect, the photoshoot draws you in.
