Bladerunner Apparel is taking some serious heat for it’s latest contribution to the fashion world, the “Defender” is a bullet-proof hoodie designed to keep its wearer safe when confronted with the possibility of street violence. The owner of the London-based company says the hoodie is not being marketed towards gang members but instead they hope to sell it in the U.S. with a focus on those concerned about safety around gun violence. Several activists groups are up in arms over this one due to the very nature of this item of clothing. MaMaa (Mothers Agains Murder and Aggression) has publicly said that the hoodie “Spreads the fear factor and makes teenagers think they are invincible”. There’s nothing like pushing youngsters into a violent life of crime by having them think they are invincible. This new fashion statement is truly a sign of the times….a depressing sign of the times.
