Your breath could run a truck! No, I’m not accusing you of having bad breath - it could really run a truck! According to the Liverpool Daily Post, “John Lennon Airport is the world’s first airport to trial a revolutionary machine that will convert the breath of passengers into biofuel.” The Eco-box, developed by Origo Industries, will be installed at the airport soon, and will hopefully be able to produce up to 250 liters of biofuel per day. The system works by feeding the captured CO2 to algae, which is then turned into fuel. If the trial is successful, the company hopes to expand the system to produce as much as 3000 liters per day. Now that’s a lot of hot air! I know what you’re all thinking. If they can produce that much fuel just from normal people breathing in an airport, imagine if one were installed in every politician’s office to actually make use of some of that hot air that seems to emanate in abundance! We could be “energy independent” in no time at all! References: liverpooldailypost Filed In: |
