Playing games can be a great way to pass the time and the Scotland Yard board game design in particular adds some mystery by encouraging players to hunt for the villain in the city of London. The game is filled with the same uncertainty and excitement as walking into a mystery.

The game board is designed to look like the busy streets of London, with famous landmarks highlighted and marked. Of the players, one is selected to be the villain Mr. X attempting to escape the police. The other players are attempting to pursue Mr. X through the various city transit systems trying to catch the culprit by cornering him. The dynamic game plays tribute to London's urban landscape as well as celebrated monuments like the London Eye and Buckingham Palace by bringing the city's culture to the forefront.
