Blue Eye - Smart Table (VIDEO) [Edit]

Blue Eye is a new high-tech table which copies the images of the objects on its surface. Once printed, the images can then easily be manipulated, extended and also animated. “You can take objects, put them onto the board and they are instantly imported into the digital screen” says Bastiaan Ekeler from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands “When an object is placed on top of the table, the digital camera overhead captures an image and software cuts around it by distinguishing it from the background. Existing digital images can also be added to the system by dragging them into a computer folder on a connected computer”

The Blue Eye table consists of a glass surface with a camera overhead and a projector and a mirror underneath. A user places an object on the glass surface and presses a button to copy it to the screen beneath. Once imported, the images can then easily be moved, stretched and even animated by a user. Big freaking deal. It's just separate layers, like in Photoshop. You could find the new stuff by putting the new layer above the current and putting the blending options on 'different' in Photoshop. Stupid.

Could be used to input object images for a best packaging in minimum space for layered boxes of different set of objects often changed for eclectic imports and exports.
