I think my HD-DVD player suddenly became obsolete.  Today electronics retail giant Best Buy announced that it no longer be neutral in recommendations to customers regarding Toshiba’s HD-DVD vs Sony’s Blu-ray hgh definition technology.  Beginning in March Best Buy will begin featuring predominately Blu-ray products and recommend Blu-ray to its customers.  This is significant in the format wars as it comes on the heels of Netflix opting to stock exclusively Blu-ray. 

"Because we believe that Blu-ray is fast emerging as that single format, we have decided to focus on Blu-ray products," Brian Dunn, Best Buy's president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. (reuters)
