Real Fish in Beijing Olympics Trinkets

Animal rights activists are protesting an unofficial Beijing Olympics keychain which houses a real fish. Although the goldfish are living at the time of sale, there’s no way the little creatures would survive for long, whether it be their inability to move, the act of carelessly being flung around, or simply the extreme summer heat that ultimately leads to their death.

The clear, heart-shaped baggies that house the fish are printed with the red outline of Huanhuan, one of the five mascots of this summer’s games. They’re being sold by street vendors at Qingdao along the waterfront where the sailing events will happen this August.
