Marc Van Vilet is a designer that has put together a beach tower specifically designed to watch the seasons change by observing the natural shift in the horizon. The tower is called 'De Streken' and is located in the Netherlands in the middle of a sand flat, giving the viewer visiting the tower a constantly changing view of the surrounding depending on the time of day and where the sun is located.
The sand flats is an ideal location for an observation tower to be built, because it offers unobstructed views of the sun setting and rising. The installation makes use of the expansive landscape with a boardwalk that takes guest to a circular wooden platform out on the water. The domed shape and roofless design alters its form throughout the day, to reflect the changing landscape.
