BBC radio 1 asked their listening audience to participate in a week long campaign of events to promote their commitment to transparency by offering a behind the scenes ‘access all areas’ showing of the BBC radio 1 studio. For the ‘Meet the Listeners’ event, BBC set aside a picture message day where they encouraged Listeners to send in a photo (they negotiated with UK mobile operators to allow free MMS messaging sent to a special code). 42,000 photos were submitted, and as a tribute to their loyal listeners, created a wonderful stop-motion film of their faces.
A selection and highlights of the photos are also displayed in a mosaic collage on the BBC Radio 1 website where listeners can try to spot their face in the crowd.
