Named the New Baghdad, this coffee table consists of a collection of thousands of industrial steel contours brought together by Israeli designer Ezri Tarazi. When all these elements are integrated, the surface of the New Baghdad coffee table represents a map of the Iraqi capital.
Each table is handmade in India. It is probably best if I leave it to the artist to explain her inspiration.
The top of the New Baghdad table is made up of tens of different industrial aluminium profiles each one with a specific purpose, which together make up a map of the capital of Iraq, ploughed by river Tigris. The designer Ezri Tarazi's idea behind the table is that each shape's various identities are merged into a cohesive plan. This table is perfectly level and has no prop structure. This is possible thanks to the great skill in welding the contours. It is available in two different sizes and highness.
