The anti-factory farming ad makes use of the Coldplay classic 'The Scientist,' having it covered by country legend Willie Nelson specifically for the video and set to the beautiful animation of filmmaker Johnny Kelly. At just over two minutes long, the advert quickly shows the story of a farmer who succumbs to temptation and "sells out" to factory farming, only to realize his mistake and return to a sustainable, environmentally friendly, family-run farm.
The touching story, along with the sweet Willie Nelson cover of the sentimental Coldplay tune, make the 'Back to the Start' Chipotle ad hard to forget. It's rare to see a fast food restaurant promote organic and sustainable farming, and I'm glad to see Chipotle taking these important steps towards a better future by buying and promoting locally grown products.
