Artisect is the latest series of illustrations created by talented Italian artist and illustrator Federico Babina. The Artisect series consists of a collection of 25 images that comprise a marriage between fine art and architectural inspiration. The images parallel famous painters and architectural structures.
Babina's thoughtful mash-ups take famous buildings conceived by such architectural luminaries as Shigeru Ban, Zaha Hadid and SANAA to take on surrealist, metaphysical and cubic forms by merging them with artistic works coming from similar schools of thought. Babina intended for these images to function as a metaphor for the imaginary dialogue that takes place between creative minds of different fields.
At first glance, viewers can spot the artists being paid tribute to. But a deeper and more concentrated focus on the details is required to appreciate the architectural content hidden within.
