Impulse buys around this time of year are fueled by weeks of marketing, like the ubiquity of Black Friday ads in American fliers, on TV, and on the web.

If you want to avoid consumer debt this holiday, why not opt for DIY gifts? There are plenty of incredible things you can make yourself, all of which will be much more meaningful than anything you can buy in a store. And if the recipient is disappointed? They’re not worthy of anything you could have spent your hard earned bucks on anyway!
