Mike Pelletier quantifies emotion in his film ‘Parametric Expression.' He is an interactive, technical artist and the director of this film, which quantifies emotion by combining music with visual expression. In other words, the film is essentially one large mathematical equation. The music and film itself are eerie; the slow movements of the digital figures are infused with suspense and spontaneity.
You can see the emotion vividly in the film with each movement progressively getting more animated. The emotions illustrated in the film are general content, progressing into what looks like anger and then all of a sudden explodes into an abstract form of emotional overload. Pelletier loops these same emotions and shows them at different angles, sometimes alternating between figures. In a nutshell, this film is eerie, perhaps disturbing to some viewers but undoubtedly eye-opening.
