Polish born photographer Paulina Otylie Surys creates stylized imagery full of mystery and melancholy that borders on an apocalyptic mood. Now based in London, Surys works with a vintage camera, usually 35mm on medium and large format film, along with hand painting. She mixes toners and inks over dry dyes as part of her techniques while touches of oil and gold lead evokes souvenirs of the past. With fine detail to composition and capturing the spectrum of light, she has garnered a cult following in the fashion field, proving to be a hybrid of vintage and modern.

With a look of classic photography, her style has been described as "Artography." Moving forward, Surys is now directing herself towards working with tintypes and wet plate collodion processes. Having just recently launched herself into fashion photography, her analogue images are exhibiting with VOGUE Italia in Milan this month with some critics calling her moody work reminiscent the old Italian masters.
