I love it when old things are revamped and given a brand new look. These pieces of second hand antique china have been altered by Karen Ryan who removed part of their surface decoration to form some surprising messages. Shown here are the British designer’s plates from the Trilogy series.  I damage secondhand old plates. I remove the decorative patterns that camouflage our everyday lies and in its place I leave words that our conscience and create portraits of hidden domestics left open for others to interpret.
