A 15 year old Philippine teen named Angelo Casimiro has designed shoes that can charge your phone just by walking. Part of the 2014 Google Science Fair, the Electricity Harvesting Footwear allows you to burn calories and power up your cell phone at the same time.
The shoes Angelo Casimiro designed produce electricity using an insole generator composed of two discs that make energy when the crystals inside get bent. This allows the footwear to charge small battery-operated devices, including smartphones. The external device appears to be where the small gadgets can be plugged into.
Currently in the processing phase, this technology will continue to be improved and developed. But before long, you could be getting fit while ensuring your phone doesn't die on you.
