Alfonso Batalla Highlights Past Primes with 'Prefabricated Life'

Alfonso Batalla has a knack for capturing buildings that have past their prime. He photographs abandoned pieces of architecture, along with any materials that might have been left behind.

The city that Alfonso Batalla decided to capture has not been lived in since 1986, and he focused on various apartments that were left behind. Old beds, cracked walls and dirty floors are just a few features found beyond the walls. The eerie part about this series is viewers can imagine the life that once lived here, and only guess at the individual's fateful end. Perhaps they moved on to other housing, but either way the remaining furniture makes one think the departure was more abrupt. Batalla captures these sentiments beautifully in this poignant and perfected series.
