Alexander Hulme has created a hybrid writing utensil that is a mixture of both a pen and a pencil.

The creation features the clip of a pen at the top, while having a body of a pencil. Hulme's pencil can be seen under his Industrial collection, along with works named “Lunchware,” “3 Mobile,” “Calculator,” and “Oh Lord, the trouble with my door.”

Implications - As we move toward a society that relies increasingly on the practicality and speed of a product, companies are going to continue trying to provide consumers with items that have more than one use. Multitasking has become an art form for this generation, even if it means they have to change familiar, conventional products in favor of experimental ones that have the potential to work faster.
