I hate having to remove my shoes at the airport security check point. The TSA has removed the requirement, but the power mad fascists love to exert their authority over travelers. It also provided a new market for shoe-only scanners. A step-on x-ray device is used in Israel called Mag Shoe, which scans shoes as you walk through in just two seconds.  "This innovation brings enormous logistical value as it significantly cuts down the discomfort and delays associated with standard shoe searches."
