An overlap between fashion and industrial design occurs in the Aintree Collection by Tomas Alonso. Each of these practical and decorative pieces is assembled or enhanced by the incorporation of a thin leather belt.

'Vera, Chapter One' is the name of the exhibition in which these four items were showcased, requiring an imaginative narrative by the artist to embrace the theme of the event. As such, the maker of these finely crafted home furnishings and fittings selected Vera as the protagonist in his fictional story. Inspired by the young girl's frequent trips to an open park, these pieces incorporate lightly tanned leather straps that look much like the saddle bands of the horses she loves to watch. The lovely shelf, basket, light fixture and tray that make up the Aintree Collection by Tomas Alonso are fixed together attentively with tiny brass studs.
