A startup called 'Heli-Lab' is currently using a fleet of agricultural drones to bring the Internet to rural Sicilian farmers. For many rural farmers, a lack of connectivity means an inability to take advantage of new agricultural technology. Now drones are being used to combat this problem by bringing WiFi to rural communities.
The agricultural drones produced by Heli-Lab are equipped with APR-specific technology, which allows them to carry out a number of different tasks. One of the most important features that the drone are equipped with is the ability to transform into real PCs and hot spots. This allows them to collect agricultural data through their flight and then send this information to the cloud for farmers to analyze. As a result, farmers can carry out tasks such as precision measurement of crops, harvest forecasting and even pesticide treatments.
The technology ultimately allows rural farmers to take advantage of new technology and better care for their crops.
