Turning an old bakery into a stunning Aesop store for the skin brand, Australia-based firm Henry Wilson Studio did an amazing job at keeping authentic touches where they needed to be.

Balancing a feel of contemporary and industrial rustic, the Aesop store design is full of interesting little details like statement original sandstone walls, industrial metal shelving units, copper pipes and a row of locally-sourced sandstone sinks. Aesop stores are known to be designed by top-notch designers all over the world, and this branch in Sydney certainly does not disappoint.

"The stone walls are typical for buildings of the area, and of that era," says Wilson. "Sydney sandstone is unique in its yellow colour and grey veins. It's soft and easy to work and the evidence of the primitive tools and unskilled labour can be seen in all the original blockwork."
