$10 Laptop - When the $100 Laptop is Too Expensive

Forget the Negroponte $100 Laptop, Researchers in India are trying to build a $10 laptop!  The project is being spearheaded by India’s Ministry of Human Resource Development with the “help from Semiconductor Complex, a state-sponsored designer and manufacturer of integrated circuits.” Officials from all these organizations are weighing in on the “system designs submitted by an engineering student from India’s Vellore Institute of Technology and a researcher from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore.” Currently, the project has resulted in a $47 dollar laptop, but $10 dollars remains the ultimate goal.
