‘80s Hairstyle Revivals - Louis Vuitton S/S 2009 (VIDEO)
Louis Vuitton S/S 2009

Seeing the photos of Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2009 makes me reminiscent of the eighties even though I tended to stay away from the outrageous styles.

Vuitton implements bold and solid color patterns in his designs as they are featured on mini-skirts, mini-dresses, sexy mini-coats, and even pants—although I’m not crazy about padded shoulders, regardless of the cool color effect.

The styles look fun, flirty and sexy. And of course, what fashion wouldn’t be complete without some cool accessories like clunky earrings, mega-necklaces, bright-colored shoes, and fringe purses?

The video of Vuitton’s show is well worth watching because now it appears that the dreaded ‘80s hair may be on its way back. Huge poufy bangs that stand two-inches tall and punk hair styles are all over the runway. Another hair style featured prominently on Vuitton’s models was a slicked-back top and side with a ginormous fuzzy poodle-like ponytail.

What held it together was the pitch-perfect spirit of the will to dress up in tough times. It was a suggestion rather than a theme, but there was something here of the plucky glamour of women in wartime Paris: a Deco-era palette sparkled up with showgirl glints of metallic python and crystal; crepe kilts spliced with windows of dotted net in the rear for naughty jeune filles; sculpted-shoulder blazers and graceful high-waist pants for grown-up mesdames. In my personal opinion, this is a very cool trend, but without it having the actual ads, its pre-mature. Once the ads are out, a trend is sure to be written describing the campaign and the look of it, so this will be obsolete.

@Ayman, I should change it to reflect the fashion rather than Madonna, right? Thanks so much, Ayman -- off to do it right now. Please let me know if you think it has improved.

@Ayman, better?

Thought I better add, for those who are unaware of the original article, that "better" as in removing Madonna modeling for Vuitton because photos of her aren't out yet.

Sandra, I submitted this two days ago and it "didn't make the cut", Possibly because it was "unconfirmed".

@Tink -- You're right, that is probably why your submission did't make the cut. Although, Madonna was just confirmed this morning to represent Vuitton by the New York Post. However, I see where Ayman was coming from -- until her ads come out it really would be an obsolete trend. :-)

Fantastic trend Sandra. Again that was just my personal opinion. I put myself as a reader who sees a title about Madonna LV S/S 2009 ads but then sees 9 pictures from their runways and one publicity Madonna pic and I wouldnt be happy. We can't even describe the theme of the ads or whats special about them if we havent seen them. Now your trend took a different direction and looks awesome with 10 runway pics and a video. The only thing that would make it even better is if your related trend choices were about 80s revivals instead of general fashion stuff that is not really related to the trend idea. I've seen many 80s fashion coming back posts on TH lately, so that would fit better with the related theme. Cheers!

@Ayman, thank you and I took your advice. :-)

Oh, fiddlesticks -- I forgot to remove the "celebrity news" check mark so the article is hidden in the trends bar. :-) Duh! LOL.
