In this recreated $7.5 Million Billy Wilder theater, 128 LED glow sticks put on a spectacular display making it seem as though you have been transported to the world of the stars… the movie stars. The cost of the light enhancement system was $5 Million.
It’s the creative project of Michael Maltzan who transformed UCLA’s Hammer Museum for the ultimate movie-going experience.
Going to a movie is an experience, as much as a process of entertainment. It attempts to transport you from a world of reality to a world of make-believe stuff. It is a place where you are willing to put yourself in a state of suspended disbelief. Now Michael Maltzan has created a theater or rather revamped it in such a way that the few moments that you spend before the movie starts in your chair, you actually feels like moving into a different world. The $7.5 million Theater, which is named after the Academy Award–winning screenwriter and director Billy Wilder has been revamped with this unique creation. This has been made possible by a $5 million gift from his wife, Audrey Wilder.
