It terms of the World Record for number plates there is a new leader. 1. it beat the previous record holder 5 (worth £3.5 million) after selling for a mere £7 million.

It was sold by charity auction in the United Arab Emirates.

The successful bidder said he bought it because he "wants to be the best in the world". Saeed Khouri, a member of a wealthy Abu Dhabi family, added: "I bought it because it's the best number." (blog.nationwidevehiclecontracts)
