Illness From Space - Hundreds Ill After Meteorite Slams Into Peru
[Edit]
Curiosity not only kills, but it also causes illness. That’s what about 600 spectators found out near a meteorite crash site in Carancas, Peru. The impact left a crater 100 feet wide by 20 feet deep. Local residents flocked to the scene after witnessing a “fireball” in the sky and a loud explosion.
Hundreds of visitors to the site became ill with headaches and nausea. Scientists attribute the sickness to noxious gases at the site, a direct result of the meteorite “fusing with elements of the terrain.” Town officials are asking folks to stay away from the crash site.
This event just goes to show that human curiosity will never die, and people will never learn to avoid danger.
