Blindness is one of the most difficult senses to lose. Being born without sight is one thing, but to lose your vision once you’ve experienced the brilliance of the world would be truly difficult.

Thankfully, science and incredible engineering have led to the invention of truly remarkable innovations to aid the blind, or those with a failing sense of sight.

The slideshow highlights some of the medical breakthroughs and creative designs which make the world brighter for these individuals. These inventions including a slew of brailliant innovations, from braille wine bottle labels to Playboy in braille, but they also include more revolutionary items such as bionic eyes which could even restore sight.
