21st Century Pop Pointillism: New Hot Chip Video - One Pure Thought

Love it or hate it, Hot Chip’s day-glo kookiness has been carefully cultivated with some super-savvy music video director choices (Nima Nourizadeh, Garth Jennings) that have paid dividends in viral pass-aroundability and musical kudos. Their latest, through London-based animation house Trunk, looks like the bastard child of Seurat’s vivid pointillism, and Dali-tinged 70’s psychedelica, and knocks the spotty socks off the majority of anodyne performance videos that have left videos turned off, broadcasters not showing them and consequently the music video industry without a platform to play them. Where other than YouTube do people go to watch music videos these days? Surely there’s a market opportunity here somewhere for a savvy entrepreneur… Via: boardsmag |
