200-year-old Shipwreck Located in the Gulf of Mexico
[Edit]
A 200-year-old shipwreck has been discovered in the Gulf of Mexico. Researchers do not know anything about the shipwreck, but artifacts scattered on the seafloor suggest that the vessel is from the late 1700s or early 1800s. There is no pot-of-gold here, but recovery efforts are taking lace off the Louisiana coast in the Gulf of Mexico in over 4,000 feet of water to yield artifacts from the ocean floor that are of historical significance.
The $4.8 million salvage effort, funded by the Okeanos Gas Gathering Co., is being recorded for a documentary.
