125th Straight Loss for Dona Chepa (VIDEO) [Edit]

In the loser’s circle for the 125th consecutive time, is Dona Chepa, a Puerto Rican race horse that descends from a line of distinguished championship racers. Dona’s futile efforts began on February 14, 2001 and it has been disasterous ever since. She holds the world record for losing streaks, followed by Ouroene of Australia with 124 losses, Thrust of North America with 105, and Quixall Crosset of the UK with 103.

Maybe they should just change her name to “Soy un Perdedor” and get it over with.

A Puerto Rican horse that can't win a race now has a claim to fame. Dona Chepa, a 9-year-old brown mare, finished last in a six-horse field at Camarero Racetrack in eastern Puerto Rico on Wednesday, a 125th consecutive loss that is believed to be the longest in horse racing history. Track spokesman Joe Bruno said Wednesday's loss surpasses an equine losing record of 0-124 set by Australian horse Ouroene, who raced from 1976-83. (cbsnews)
