From Internet Influencer Discounts to Hashtag Currency Restaurants

An important part of social media strategy is integrating interactivity, like social payment. This retail method involves letting people pay with a Tweet, hashtag, Instagram post or something similar. You might not get cold hard cash for your product, but you do get built-in marketing on social media and buy-in from customers.

Social payment can take a number of different forms, from letting people pay outright by mentioning your product or service in a post (like hashtag currency shops) to offering discounts depending on the number of followers the consumer has. Some brands are offering participating posters money for promotion, such as Newcastle Brown Ale's social bribing campaign. Lancome is doing social media rewards a bit differently by offering redeemable points for engaging with their various social channels.
