Retro packaging is making a serious resurgence in the marketing world, with many branding companies going back to age-old roots to give products a sense of authority.

The retro look also induces nostalgia in certain consumers, forging an emotional connection to the project. When one sees an old cassette tape re-branded as a case for a set of headphones, immediate memories of when they used this outdated piece of tech come to mind. Playing on emotions is a great way to win over customers and keep their business. Alyssa Phillips came up with this idea for a school project, and it was a major hit.

Retro packaging is just one way branding experts are experimenting with various designs, but it's certainly one that's gaining traction with both companies and consumers alike.
