Mercedes bent fall 2009 fashion week produced much expected scenery: black. Exactly how many black pieces does one need in their wardrobe? A closetful, according to the designers.

Near the end of February’s fashion week, Isaac Mizrahi chucked some lively color and much needed whimsy down the runway. Using the familiar hat-shape of the toque, he translated that image into a purse, and then back into a hat. Moschino would be proud.
